I would imagine that when you have others working with you on a map it can lead to some pretty fun times. My buddies are usually dropping Wraiths on me at any given chance, so it's pretty much a party while forging together. My initial thoughts on walking into Majatek's map was somebody is getting hit with a Wraith and look at all these spawns.

With any map other than my own there's always that first disorientation adjustment. I usually find myself wandering around till I hit something I can't cross, jump, or scream at to move. Then it's right into monitor mode and I'm flying myself out of the problem area. I made it around pretty easily but hit a few snags here and there in Spartan mode.
Making my way within this beast as a red I came to the conclusion that I'm pretty much screwed being this color, while on this map. Blue's are on the outside protected by one way shields and anyone not familiar with this one is going to get themselves smeared rather quickly. Walkways lead to dead ends. Crates are strewn about. It's basically my old dorm on a Friday Night. Not that's bad. I like chaotic maps, it tends to puts others on edge just as much as I am.

This map does some weird thing from time to time. Like I said earlier some hallways remind me of the Winchester Mansion. Then really cool ideas sprout out of the ground like the tunnel next to the tower.

| For some reason that tree really goes with this place. |
Then it all goes to hell as in the map's lower portion. There's an interesting tunnel, but I can't find an exit.

Weapon placements are jumbled. At times it was just me running over them on blind luck. Then to smack my snottiness out of me some are cleverly displayed on ramps and panels, easy to acknowledge and grab while on the go.
Then this just happens.

" They got guns." "So do we Simmons." " Yeah, we also got that back door and freedom Sarge."
Yep that's a Falcon in that first pic. Now I'm going into this as in it's a prop for show. Most of the fighting seems funneled within the interior of the map and this Falcon is for those few Blues who'd actually escape and take it for a joy ride to impress the ladies, rather than taking one in the face mask along with obligatory ceremonial t-bagging.
Other than that... unless there's more hidden It would make the campers at the tower uneasy and the anything else exposed to the sky is going to get a bath in lead rain.
Overall I like the map. Seems like I'm complaining earlier in the post, but in reality its a fine party map to kick back with friends on. Just make sure you wander it first before jumping right in if you want some advantages over the other player.

You did hit quite a few good points - It's a small claustrophobic map that typically favours those who are adept in Close Quarters Combat, which results in the aforementioned t-bagging. The few things that you did miss are: The mass of spawn points are linked to different game types – the central cluster of red spawns out the back of the map only spawn Spartans in infection mode gameplay, and the blue spawns behind the shield-doors are all infected spawns – The two cluster of spawns (red and blue) on either side of the map on the lower-levels (on the side of that major cluster of red spawns) are normal Team Slayer spawns for Spartans/Elites. Additionally, the Falcon is there for scenery, as it is out of the safe-zone boundary, as is the tower with that awesome tunnel. Also, as a final note, that tunnel that lead to "know where" was meant to link to Haemorrhage, but I just ran out of budget, so yeah, that sucks. All in all, you review maps quite well, but for future reviews you might like to check what spawns spawn what players in what gametypes as you thought that all the red players spawn in the base and all the blue players spawn outside – That’s not the case as I pointed out. Thanks for the review! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I almost forgot - Those one-way energy shield doors disappear in normal gametypes that are not infection gametypes. Those shield doors prevent the un-infected players from escaping the complex and then camping up top where the blue (infected) spawn.
