AUTHOR: DEZARATH. MAP:GEHENNA.

Welcome to Ballrogs. This will be my first post and I think we'll start with my Halo: Reach Forge Map Gehenna.  Gehenna takes it's name from an actual place located outside of Ancient Jerusalem. In Biblical terms it's the proverbial Lake of Fire located in Hell. My creation soon took on the very similar themed voyage into the underworld and thus I named it accordingly.

When I started forging the map I had formulated an idea where I wanted KillBalls in a constant motion unhampered. Players would then circumnavigate the chaotic hazards rolling around them while trying to avoid getting wiped out out by other opponents. KillBalls for non Halo players are massive boulders of flame that can end the player's life on contact. When gravity is applied in the game's mechanics it acts much like a ball of iron.

One of the opening corridors where the player curses my name.

Gehenna is an Assault only map and can be broken down into five levels within one large map.

1. The Corridors: The corridors are a vent box shaped level that has columns placed strategically throughout them, they are laden with an assortment of Covenant weapons. The long hallways within  have minimal cover making for some dangerous battles. There are two normal exits and four corner drops that lead to the next level.

2. The Courtyard: The Courtyard is a massive grid flooring with a central teleporting stalactite that will lead to the Lake of Fire below. There are two ramped walkways that are across from other in their respective corners. They both host the Capture Plate for the opposing team's goal in order to score. You'll hop through the teleporter to a welcome of a face full of fiery death on the other side of the receiver node.

Those Kill Balls are in motion below, so keep an eye on them while on the shallow end.

3. The Lake of Fire: The 3rd level is a massive cup with a central dais that the player will teleport onto from the Courtyard above. You won't have much time there even though it will appear as a safe haven from the fire balls being hurled around by the man cannons below you. Eventually one will reach you and rather quickly. The minute you see an opening no matter how narrow you should be diving on a wing and a prayer, running, and screaming off the dais. When that happens you will now find yourself in a harrowing position with KillBalls breathing down your neck at any given moment. You'll quickly come to realize you're a mouse stuck in a room with blind cats and much like that mouse you'll need to find a hole in the wall to escape them.
Look for the yellow light to discover your escape.

The 7th Circle is filled with obstacles and vantage points to fight from.

4. The 7th Circle: You've fallen through the rabbit hole Alice and now things will get back to normal as in guns, cover, and death from above. You're nearing the end of the journey and it's full of close combat terror here. When you land you might miss some goodies like a jet pack and a cloaking ability hanging about the maze of blocks and shadows. You'll have to make your way to the bomb and each one is secreted away by the far end of the map. Once you have them you'll need to get back up. So head to the far left and you'll find a narrow hall way leading to the last level.  Make sure to keep an eye out for the Traffic Cone since it's sitting on top of a Armor Lock Ability you might desperately need for the last leg.

Wow, won't that active camo be nice right about now...
There's not much cover and a Sniper Rifle and his wife the Mounted Machine Gun want you over for dinner.

5. The Gate to Victory: Unlike the 7th Circle, which is cluttered and claustrophobic, The Gate to Victory is sparse and open. The far end is a basically a firing range that you have to best in order to advance. That is of course if the other team has made it there before you and is holding it. Armed with a Weapon's Column that has a Sniper Rifle and a mounted machine gun. Throw in a commanding line of fire... it will be daunting to say the least.
Luckily if your reading this blog you'll now know about the Revenant parked above that can be reached al la Mario brothers jumping. Good luck with that. The pay off is well worth it if you can snag yourself a Revenant to the utter surprise of the chuckle heads (friends) guarding the teleporter. Once through you'll be back at the Courtyard on the very top receiver node. From there it's up to you to make it to the other team's ramp to score.

Hope that helps with Gehenna. It turned out to be one of my better maps so far. I am slotted to covert it to all game types hopefully by July of this year. You can download it by using the links to the side of the blog. You must have an Xbox360 and the Game Halo Reach in order to download and play.

Map Type: Assault Only.
